Why I Became a Certified Financial Coach

Do you want the truth of why I became a certified financial coach?

It all started because for some reason I Googled it one day and that got the ball rolling.

Honestly… it was my intuition guiding me and I just happened to be listening. {wink,wink}

This journal post goes into the past, the present and the future around my experience with money and how I fell into getting certified as a financial coach.

Here it goes.

The Past

At 20 years old I started to work in the mortgage and real estate industry so I got a little more savvy with numbers and finances.

I saw 1,000’s of different financial scenarios… debt, paycheck to paycheck living, people living extravagant or maybe just surviving living on home equity, even credit reports showing up to 17 credit cards.

This experience enhanced my thriftiness as I didn’t really buy what I didn’t need.

I was however really into real estate and desired from an early age to see my money work hard for me not the other way around.

Let your money work hard for you.

While the rest of the 20 something’s were out playing and partying… I was working full time, going to  school full time and for shit’s and giggle’s I decided to be a notary as a side job and get my real estate license.

It paid off though.

I ended up buying the CUTEST condo a mile from the beach in Cardiff by the Sea, California at the age of 25 and shortly after bought a condo in a high end luxury building in Jacksonville, Florida.

When I sold my condo I let my money continue to work for me as I have re-invested that money into other real estate I now own with my husband.

What I realized is that what I am good with when it comes to money:

  • Realizing that money is not evil
  • That money can work for you
  • You need to have a good relationship with money
  • You need to be aware of your money and what you are buying

Last Spring (2017) I signed up for a financial certification program and just dove in. I was not sure what the heck I would do with it but it was fun to see what the program taught and I met nice people.

Fast forward to this year and as luck would have it… as I started to talk about money a bit more and  people started asking about credentials.

Now I can say “I am a certified financial coach”.

The Present

After the financial coach certification program I was hesitant in using the exact protocol that I learned because I felt that no matter how many times you tell someone to look at their finances or create a budget or pay down their debt if their heart is not behind it, if they are still in their old money story then it is much much harder for them to clean up their finances.

Are you with me on that one?

So I created The Money Flow Mentorship and Retreats… a series of experiences to help you with the magical and practical side of money.

I try to make it a fun  & playful experience.

I love to see people heal their relationship with money.

And then they can move forward in the numbers side of things.

The Future

What does the future hold?

I do not know.

I will continue to ask my intuition to guide me and see what flows into my life.

Maybe a book?

For now I will continue to hold Money Flow Retreats and The Money Flow Mentorship as that feels fun and supports people.

One thing I know for sure is that the scope money is changing. The conversations around money are changing.

More and more people are realizing that money is not evil and when they have money they can do lots of good in the world.

Let’s all just drop the stigma around money, k?

xx,
